Abstract In the history of friendly exchanges between China and Japan for more than 2,000 years,word-level
exchanges have permeated the entire process and have been characterized by two-way interaction. After Meiji
Restoration,Japan actively learned from the West in fields such as technology, political systems, and education,
and quickly moved toward the path of capitalist development.Japanese scholars used the Chinese vocabulary in
Japanese to translate a large amount of Western things. These translated words were introduced into Chinese by
Chinese students in Japan and Chinese scholars at that time, which greatly enriched modern Chinese. The direction of language flow is also a manifestation of the difference in cultural potential between the two countries.
Therefore, improving the international momentum of Chinese culture is an inevitable requirement for realizing a
strong cultural country.
