Abstract A market survey shows that there is an increasing social demand for inter-disciplinary talents，which
requires the college students’comprehensive language ability be the focus of teaching reform．The primary task
of English department is to help the students to master English skills， to improve teaching system， to reform
teaching design and to adopt flexible teaching methods， which is supposed to improve the students’
comprehensive abilities．
