Abstract With the rapid development of digital technology, the field of higher education is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Internationalization development, as an important development aspect of higher education, has also been affected by digital technology. This study first analyzes the concept and evolution of internationalization of universities in the local area, grasps the connotation and characteristics of internationalization of higher education in the local area, and deeply analyzes the coordinated development of education digitization and internationalization in the local area. Finally, it analyzes the top-level design and digital campus construction, the reform of educational methods, talent cultivation and curriculum design and revealed the path of internationalization of universities empowered by digital technology. The study enables a better understanding of the impact of digital technology on the internationalization of universities and provides useful insights into developing intelligent internationalization strategies for the universities.
