Abstract A new polyoxometalates compound, Cu₁₂Cl₂(trz)₈[HPMo₁₂O₄₀]]_n （1）（trz = 1,2,4-1H-triazole）, has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monolinic system, space group C2/m, a = 2.1618(4) nm, b = 2.16726(10) nm, c = 1.60124(15) nm, β = 117.090(11)°, V = 6.3207(14) nm3, Z = 4. In addition, the fluorescence property of compound 1 was also investigated.
