Abstract Protopanaxatriol group (PPT) is one of the two major tetracyclic triterpenoid saponins, responsible for anti-fatigue, anti-stress effects. This report studied the influence on adsorption of total PPT and PPD on D101C macroporous resin, by factors including concentration of total ginsenosides in stem and leaf, temperature and time of adsorption. In addition, influence of ethanol percentage was evaluated for desorption. Experimental results demonstrates that D101C microporous adsorption resin can adsorb 15 mg/mL of total ginsenosides at 15 ℃ after 14 hours, with PPT content further elevated to 86.8% from 27.2% and increased ratio of PPT to PPD (185:1 from 1.1:1) by desorption of 45% ethanol at 25 ℃ for 14 hours, indicating a better extraction and purification method of isolation and purification.
