Abstract Relief valve and sequence valve in the hydraulic system are all belong to the pressure control valve. The principle and structure are very similar, but each has its own characteristics in practical application. How to make reasonable application according to their characteristics is essential. The paper compares and analyses structure and working principle of relief valve and sequence valve and analyses the structural differences of the relief valve, sequence in different applications, and combining with the actual work case. It summarizes the working characteristics of the typical application of relief valve and sequence valve and provides a reference for engineering and technical personnel for the application and selection of relief valve and sequence valve.
